Hello,
My name is Jacek Kasjan and I am pianist, church musician and teacher. I teach a piano and a music theory.
I was born in Poland and I started to play a piano at age of 12 in my native city Wroclaw.
After coming to United States I have studied piano at Macomb Community College under Leszek Bartkiewicz. I earned my bachelor degree at Wayne State University where I had an opportunity to work under guidance of Dr. Robert Conway.
Currently, I am completing my Master degree at Eastern Michigan University where I work under guidance of Dr. Hyunjin Lim and Dr. Joel Schoenhals.
I work as an organist at Transfiguration church in Detroit, St. Ladislaus in Hamtramck and sometimes in Sanctuary of John Paul II in Orchard Lake. Yet, I perform as a collaborative and a solo pianist. I am specializing in piano music of nineteenth century (Chopin, Brahms, Liszt, Schubert ). Also, I am researching polish piano music and rediscovering music of forgotten composers such as Juliusz Zarebski, Karol Tausig or Ignacy Jan Paderewski (known mostly as a pianist).
I enjoy to perform contemporary music. In 2015 I gave w world premiere of cycle of piano pieces "Music for hours" by contemporary polish composer Jaroslaw Golembiowski.
